The top of the mountain offers the most stunning vistas in the Cape. The V&A waterfront is one of South Africa's most-visited destinations. Set in a working harbour, against the backdrop of Table Mountain and magnificent sea views, the complex offers a shopping mecca, numerous entertainment venues, as well as the Robben Island Gateway and Cape Town Aquarium. Booking is imperative for the Robben Island museum, especially in season. A specially constructed ferry will carry to the island, where an ex-inmate will be your guide through the complex, which includes Nelson Mandela's cell.
The stylish Grand West Casino and entertainment centre is set in the guise of the Old Wild West. Tables are available for heavy rollers, as well as a host of slot machines. Entertainment is provided in bars and the saloon theatre, and there's a selection of themed restaurants to suit varying tastes. Also home to the only ice rink in Cape Town.
The Cape Winelands cover an expansive area, spreading through mountain passes and lush valleys, and include the areas of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Characterised by beautiful sweeping vistas, and the rich heritage of Cape Dutch architecture, this region is a must-see. Consult reception for information on tours and self-drive excursions.
The Century City complex plays host to one of Southern Africa's largest theme parks, Ratanga Junction, with more than 30 attractions including 23 rides. Don't miss the white-knuckle Cobra Rollercoaster - the park offers fun for the whole family, and hosts corporate team-building events.
